Playing with Pop Pop

Here are a couple of cute videos of Micah playing with Pop Pop and Daddy. He loves when someone tickles his tummy. In the video above you can see my dad teasing him with his favorite rattle and he just was giving these huge belly laughs. In the other video, Dan is playing peekaboo with him. You can see him making that Brrrr sound with his lips and spitting everywhere! He's feeling a lot better--almost fully recovered from his tonsilitis. It's been a long week, but I think we're coming out of it now.

Grammy and Pop Pop's Visit

We are enjoying our family time with my parents. As you can see, Micah isn't too sure about pears--we started him on fruit this week. Unfortunately, he's caught another virus of some kind and we spent Sunday morning at the ER for his high fever. But he's doing ok as long as we give him Tylenol to keep that down. Thank God mom and dad are here to watch him since he can't go to daycare! In other news, Dan has an interview this week at a school in AR. Good luck!

Teething

Micah is getting a tooth in the front on the bottom and it has been giving him a little trouble! Here you can see him sucking on a frozen, wet washcloth. That works great for relieving the pain. As you can see, he is enjoying his new food for this week--carrots! He is just fascinated by the camera--that bright flash. The video showcases his new sitting up and grabbing skills! I'm just a proud mommy, what can I say? We are all looking forward to a visit from Grammy and Pop this Friday.

A little sunshine and a little snooze

Here's a picture of Micah dressed up to go to the mailbox with me in the umbrella stroller. I hate to keep him inside on such nice days and a little sunshine is good for just about everyone, even sick little boys. As you can seem he agrees with me. Below are a couple of cute videos. Enjoy!

Feelin' Better

Well, Micah's doing better today. His blisters are drying up, his temp is down and he's off the Tylenol. Dan made it home last night, but he's got something fluish! Even the cat threw up today. I guess I'm the only healthy one around here. So, since Dan wasn't up to watching Micah I missed another day of work. Thank God for understanding bosses! I've been taking Micah out to the mailbox in the unbrella stroller for some fresh air everyday. It's been just beautiful weather and I hate for us both to be cooped up all day. Here is a photo of him snoozing--looks pensive, doesn't he? In other news, he's clicking his gums together all the time. He's cutting a tooth on the bottom!

Hand, Foot and Mouth

Those three words have taken on a new meaning for me! Micah's come down with the so-named disease which features a sore throat, itchy spots on the hands, feet and, as you can see in this picture, mouth (hence the name), fever and excessive drooling, due to the throat. Needless to say the poor little guy is just not feeling too well. To complicate matters, Daddy is in St. Louis on a job interview so he's not here to help. Bummer. The good news is that the Tylenol and Motrin are keeping the fever at bay for now and the doc recommends just that around the clock until the virus passes. So it's that and lots of rest! Hopefully in a day or two he'll be back to his old self again. Gotta love those daycare breakouts!

Lions and smiles and feet, oh my!

As promised, here's a photo of Micah with his toe in his mouth, a new favorite pasttime, and one of him sitting up. He can't hold that position for too long, but when he gets his arms out there, he does a pretty good job of leaning forward on them for awhile. This video is of him playing with his lion toy and giving it a "kiss." He hasn't learned how to pucker up yet, but he'll lick your cheek :-)

In honor of Corinth, which we will be leaving soon, I am posting a partial glossary of Southern words for all us Yankee folk. You can now feel free to travel down here without feeling out of place!

Y'all-- means you all. Variation: "all y'all" for more than one group or a very large group. Also may be possessive: y'all's. Ex: "Y'all's truck is in the driveway."

Favor--not a party gift. It's a single-word verb that means to look like. Ex: "You and your husband favor."

Might could--this is a construction that means "might be able to". Variations: might would or may could, may would

Make a picture--means the same as to "take a picture"

Dag nab it--this is a widely used euphemism for you know what

Bless her heart--an expression used to denote pity on someone. Variations: bless her little pea-pickin' heart, bless y'all's heart (see entry #1) Sometimes used to express fake pity after gossipping about someone :-)

Oh, me--Same as "oh, my. "

reckon--means "I guess" Ex: "I reckon it's going to rain."

Mash--not referring to potatoes. Mash in this context means "to push". Ex: "Mash the button."

Sissy--not meaning a wimp. lovey title for a girl who is a sister. You might call her this if you are her brother or mother (in front of her brother). "Sissy, come here and help your brother pick up his toys."

get you some--get some for yourself. Ex: "Get you some paper from the filing cabinet."

Oh, me. Well, if you reckon you can get a hold of these here words and phrases, bless y'all's heart, y'all might could travel down here......Just kiddin' :-)

Living hand to mouth...

Micah is becoming more dextrous with his hands everyday. He is now trying to put the paci in his mouth himself, and while he rarely gets the right part in there, at least he's working on it! Of course, he's got a back-up plan for if he can't manuever the paci--his thumb or big toe always work :-)

Dan's 30th b-day party

Here are some shots from Dan's birthday party at the theatre on Friday. Strawberry cake compliments of Ms. June!

Like the bib says...

Most of you know by now that we're moving, but for those who don't...we're moving! Dan has officially resigned from the theatre and I have let my bosses and coworkers know. Since Dan is on contract, he had to let the Board know by the end of March if he intended to renew his contract, evne though the contract isn't up until July 15. So most likely, we'll be moving sometime after that date. Dan's doing a job search now so we don't know where we will be or what the dates will be. Our main reason for the move is to be closer to family. We love Corinth and I especially like my job here, but we're 1,500 miles away from family and that's not really conducive to Micah having a relationship with anyone. So.....we'll keep you posted. The latest is that Dan has an interview at a school in the Midwest in two weeks. If you pray, please keep up in your prayers about this. Thanks, and we'll keep you posted.

Dan turns 30!

Today Dan turns the big 3-0! I might be biased, but I think he's got a lot to show for his three decades on this earth.
In honor of this momentous occasion, You Know You're 30 When...

1. You leave gigs before the encore to "beat the rush"
2. You own a lawnmower
3. Before throwing the local paper away, you look through the property section
4. All of a sudden, your boss (friend, etc.) isn't 46, he's only 46
5. You buy your first ever T-shirt without anything written on it
6. Instead of laughing at the gardening catalogue that falls out of the newspaper, you suddenly see both the benefit and money saving properties of a plastic winter cover for your garden bench and an electronic mole repellent for the lawn. Not to mention the plastic man for the car to deter would be thieves.
7. You start to worry about your parents' health.
8. Sure, you have more disposable income but everything you want to buy costs between $300 and $500
9. You don't get funny looks when you buy a Disney video or a Wallace and Gromit bubble bath, as the sales assistant assumes they are for your child
10. Pop music all starts to sound a bit strange.
11. You become powerless to resist the lure of self-assembly furniture
12. You wish you had a shed
13. You have a shed
14. You actually find yourself saying "They don't make 'em like that anymore" and "I remember when there were only 3 TV channels" and "Of course, in my day"
Thanks, Funny.co.uk, for the list.
Tonight we are having a party at the theatre after opening night to celebrate! Party pics forthcoming.

Peas, Please.

Here is a picture and video of Micah eating his peas. Mmmmmm! Next week...squash.

Hard Work

You might say that Micah is on the fence about rolling over. In this "play" video, you can see how he lifts that one leg up in the air and arches his back, but can't seem to figure out what to do with those arms! For now, he's content to rock on the floor and put anything and everything in his mouth. Also, Operation Peas has been successful! We think he likes them pretty well. It's a good thing he also looks good in green :-) We'll have a video of that to come.
